[00:00:00] Speaker A: W VUA FM tuscaloosa. [00:00:14] Speaker B: Welcome in, ladies and gentlemen, to the low tide here on 90.7, the capstone. Nicholas, joe, adam, we're back after another week. How are we doing? [00:00:25] Speaker C: I'm good. I'm a little more relaxed. Having kind of not watched alabama play with kind of this season with how it's been. Nothing to worry about for them. I thought they'd have a really comfortable week. But then my ravens almost blew a 24 to seven lead and had to hang on in the end and get an onsite kick. So my heart was still not great. But, yeah, I'm still doing better. A lot to talk about, obviously a. [00:00:55] Speaker A: Little bit less stressful weekend. Alabama football didn't play. There were some other sports that I was keeping an eye on that kind of stressed me out a little bit. But baseball, they did beat florida state in their little fall exhibition, so that was good. The only other thing that really stressed me out was my fantasy team. I'm about to lose for a third straight week and I had this huge lead. I'm like, I'll just take a nap. And I had like a 78% chance of winning. And I woke up and it was like, oh, you're going to lose now. And I was like, what is going on here? But other than that, good weekend. [00:01:27] Speaker B: Yeah, pretty good weekend. Fall break here at alabama. Get some time off, some much needed time off. Anyway, unfortunately, we have to start the show with some somber news. Alabama has lost yet another exhibition game in basketball. Big surprise, of course, the last game they played against TCU, the secret scrimmage, the secret not so secret scrimmage that everybody knew about. And a box score was posted on twitter like five minutes after. But this time they played wake forest at wake forest in a charity exhibition and they lost 88 to 80. Some notable things from this game. First off, mark sears didn't play. Seems like a minor injury. We don't really know. They don't have to tell us at all. Not that I think NATO would tell us, but they did blow a 19 point lead at the half and wake forest was only playing with eight players. So immediate reactions to this game. I know it was not on TV. The only way you could even listen to it was over the radio. [00:02:34] Speaker C: Yeah, it's a pretty tough way to listen, but yeah, it just seems like defense from what I could kind of gather and see on kind of anybody who was reporting on it or there, it seems like the defense really fell apart. Obviously you talked about wake forest only had eight players and let people who fouled out get back into the game, which was against a scrimmage. I get it. I don't really care. But still kind of interesting. And obviously the big 19 point lead is not great, but sam walters had a really good game for alabama on the bright side of it, 13 points. Aaron Estrada had 24, pringle had 13. So, I mean, a pretty obviously 80 points is going to win you a lot of games in college basketball. But if you're up by 19, scrimmage or not, I get you might like the wake forest charity that they're playing for, but don't let them back in the game. Don't win the game. [00:03:44] Speaker A: Yeah. Alabama did not have all their players in. Obviously wake forest didn't either. So you can't really look at, oh, we didn't have mark Sears. I mean, wake forest had half their team, basically, and big lead. You lose it, you look at points from turnovers, wake forest had 29, alabama still had 21. So still decent there. But I'm looking at those bench points. Alabama had 24 points off the bench. So that kind of shows like the depth that this team is going to have. Hopefully you can get people more locked in defensively. Obviously getting outscored in the second half, 49 to 28 is never good. Hopefully as the season goes on, it's like every year with Alabama. Last year, very good offensive team, but the reason that they were as good as they were was how well they played defensively. So hopefully later in the season they're going to start giving more effort defensively. I mean, obviously, I wish I could have watched the game and saw how the players were reacting to it and stuff, but I also want to look at last year exhibition at home against southern Illinois where Alabama jumped out to a 67 to 46 lead and they only won 73 to 64. So once again, second half, not playing great defense, not executing offensively. You led the team back in. That was southern Illinois, this was wake Forest, both exhibitions. So the game really doesn't matter. You would like to see a little bit better performance. Hopefully this team can turn around. Like last year, we came out of the exhibition thinking, okay, Brendan Miller is really good. And even though we gave up so many points the second half of that game, giving up 37, only scoring 36, it was still like, is this team as good as we thought? And then they ended up getting the number one seed for the NCAA tournament. [00:05:39] Speaker B: True, yeah. I think for everybody who might be worried about this team after looking at these games, just don't. Right. NATO's coach teams usually take a while to kind of develop. They were toying with their starting lineup for quite some time last season and the season before that, before it really got solidified. And at the end of the day, this is a really young team. There are some really experienced players here. Obviously, you've got the big transfer, grant Nelson expected to play a big role this year. You have Mark Sears, you have those experienced players. But at the same time, you've got a lot of really young guys on this roster. A lot of guys who it's almost a good thing that you're blowing a 19 point lead now when the game doesn't count, as opposed to blowing it to a conference opponent or blowing it when you're up big on a really good team. But there's a lot of positives to take away here because don't forget, Mark Sears did not play in this game. And Mark Sears, to anybody who watched Alabama basketball last year, he was phenomenal. Probably one of, if not the best transfer in the country for anybody. He was fantastic and he did not play in this game. Interesting starting lineup for of. I'll list it off and then I'll list off their heights. Very tall starting lineup. You got Aaron Estrada, rylan Griffin. Let's see, who else do we have? Grant Nelson, Jarren Stevenson and Nick Pringle. And their heights in order, six three, 6611, 611, 610. That's ridiculous for a college team. Also fantastic. Two scrimmages from Aaron Estrada, who looks like he could be next to Mark Sears, one of the leaders on this team. 24 points in this, 110 of 20 from the field, six rebounds, three assists. He did have five turnovers. So that's the one blemish but a lot of Alabama's guards early in the season have really struggled with turnovers in past years. So that doesn't really surprise. [00:07:56] Speaker A: Usually, you know, especially like last Know, it was Know up until almost SEC play before they really got it together because if you look at that game in Birmingham against Know, just a lot of turnovers, still had a chance to win, didn't happen. But then after that, the switch kind of flipped. And you're looking at the schedule we have next week on November 6, the opener, morehead State, you got Indiana State, you got South Alabama. You can't sleep on any of these teams, especially in basketball. But then you have the Emerald Coast Classic where that'll be like the first couple of games that they're going to have, where it's like back to back kind of like last year, how we saw when they went out to Oregon and they're going to play Ohio State, possibly Oregon, Santa Clara. Like it's going to be really look at that weekend to kind of see how this team's going. But then once you get into December, that's when you get your really tough games, right. Purdue creighton Arizona. So hopefully they use the kind of the first month to kind of figure out who the starters are going to be, work on those turnovers and get that defense. [00:09:15] Speaker C: Yeah, and kind of looking at what they had last year, too, where that started, the schedule. It wasn't the greatest teams, but it was Southern Illinois, Longwood, Liberty, who a lot of those teams were kind of preseason favorites. And then they went on the road, struggled against South Alabama and then had that big win against Michigan State. And that was kind of that first big test for them and they passed and obviously ended up having a really good year. That was in that same week essentially, that they beat North Carolina, who was then number. You know, this year, I think, could very well be the know, it's just kind of getting through the cracks and fixing them and trying to really figure out, I think, how you're going to run because NATO and a lot of these know, Nick, you mentioned it earlier with how tall the lineup is. Normally that's the opposite for Alabama. Normally it's like their center is six nine and Alabama needs rebounds. But this year it could be a very different style of kind of a variation, maybe, of how NATO likes to play, where instead of having that deep everyone's on the outside shooting threes and driving kicks. Maybe it's a little more of the off screen kind of ball stuff and off ball screen stuff and kind of freeing guys up to where they can actually get open for three. And some of these guys who have Aaron Estrada, who had a really good, like you said, two games, and Sam Walter is four for six from three against Wake Forest. And a lot of it, admittedly, wasn't the first half where they shot 57% from three. But it's just can they kind of keep that up? And that's always been a problem for them in the past. So that'll be interesting. [00:11:08] Speaker B: Yeah. You want to know why Alabama lost this game in the second half? Just look at the shooting percentages, 30% from the field, 10% from three, just not what you want late in the game, but still a lot of time to adapt, still a lot of time to get better. And they definitely do need to get better because Warhead State not a bad team. Let's see, last season, 22 and twelve had a win in the NIT. So that's the other thing that with NATO's, the way that he builds his schedule, even the teams that you're playing early in the year are good teams. There's never really going to be a game where you can just it's not a rest. [00:11:57] Speaker A: You know, a lot of these teams they have obviously with Alabama, especially once Nate Oates has gotten there a couple times before, but Nate Oates knows you have to get the best talent, right, and you get those guys in like Brandon Miller last year, he's in one year gone. And that's happened a lot with these smaller teams. They don't get those one and dones. I mean, some people transfer out, but you have these teams that are together for the most part for the entire four year college experience. So you have a lot of very experienced teams and a lot of teams that have experience in NCAA tournaments or postseason play, and then a lot of these teams are picked to either win their conference or finish at least in the top. You know, then you get into those heavier games that are still scheduled out of conference. Like I was saying earlier. Purdue in Toronto, at Creighton, at Arizona. So he doesn't care about I mean, he obviously cares about winning, but he doesn't care necessarily winning all those games. He just wants those players to get experience against all these teams that they might have to see later, like in an NCAA play tournament. So they're used to it. They're not getting shell shot once they're there and then once they get to, you know, it's almost like a cakewalk. They're battle hardened at that point. And this year you're looking at those first three road SEC games at Vanderbilt, at Mississippi State, at Tennessee. Those are going to be tough road games. But you've already went to Creighton, who's a top ten team. You've already played Purdue and Arizona at neutral sites. Obviously, Arizona is in Phoenix. And then you had all those other teams that are maybe more experienced than those SEC teams that you're going to be playing right off the bat, for sure. [00:13:43] Speaker C: Yeah, and I mean, some of the teams, like South Alabama, for example, they've kind of had this routine of the past couple years and Alabama's played them. And I should say they played Alabama tough the last couple of years because they get a lot of SEC transfers that come in and stay for two, three, four years. And there's talent on these teams. And obviously if you look at the schedule and maybe don't know a whole lot better, you're looking at Ohio State on November 24 and saying that's your first big game. But in reality, Alabama could get tested four times in all four of their games before that Ohio State game in some way, shape or form. But I'm pretty excited. We're eight days away, so it should be a fun basketball season. Obviously, maybe not as much hype because there's no Mr. Tennessee basketball, brandon Miller coming into the school, but still a lot of really good players and I would argue probably a little deeper this year. [00:14:45] Speaker B: Yeah, it's nice for the last couple of years to have been really excited about Alabama basketball going into the season. So definitely look forward to that one. So going from a loss to a win, alabama men's golf, eight shot win today. [00:14:59] Speaker C: Had to get it in Steelwood. [00:15:00] Speaker B: Collegiate. Of course I had to get it in. I could not leave the boys off there. Eight shot win, big win for them today at the Steelwood Collegiate. And notable, it's without Nick Dunlap, who is, I would presume, is resting after traveling back from Abu Dhabi. [00:15:21] Speaker A: He's been a little busy, a little. [00:15:23] Speaker B: Bit busy, but still a fantastic win for them. [00:15:27] Speaker C: Has Alabama ever sent a golf player to Abu Dhabi? [00:15:31] Speaker B: I would imagine no. [00:15:32] Speaker C: Right? [00:15:33] Speaker B: I would imagine no. And also this is their second win in a row, so back to back. I know it's been a while since that one happened. So continuing to build some momentum. [00:15:45] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:15:46] Speaker B: What else? [00:15:47] Speaker C: It was a pretty big week. I can talk to you. Baseball happened over the weekend. [00:15:50] Speaker A: You were there, double headed. [00:15:52] Speaker C: Boy, was I was hashtag in here, roasting it. [00:15:55] Speaker B: Would it be in there? [00:15:56] Speaker C: Yeah, it was absolutely like I'm in a hoodie now, but I have a big farmer's tan on my arm. Yeah, it was pretty fun. I will say that. It was actually a pretty good crowd. Obviously, a lot of them flocked towards the shade, so they weren't necessarily all right in the best seats, but they were in probably the nicest seats. But yeah, alabama baseball, it's tough games to tell with kind of these fallball games because alabama is throwing six, seven pitchers a game. They played two six inning doubleheaders. First game was a five to three win. Bryce Evelyn had a three run home run in the bottom of the fifth to take that one away. Every alabama run was in that game was scored on a home run, which was kind of cool to see. They crushed the long ball. Cameron hayslip hit one into the parking lot. It was insane. And then the second game, complete opposite. Florida state won like two to nothing on a couple bad plays by I shouldn't say bad plays, just kind of misfortunate fielding plays. That's how florida state got the game away. And, yeah, it seems like alabama has they have a lot of power, at least from what I can tell over these kind of two fallball I guess four fallball games have a lot of power. It's just can they kind of get the routine stuff, singles, doubles, whatever, stuff like that. Because when they don't get those, it seems like they've gone pretty quiet. But it was cool. Baseball starting, obviously, rob Vaughn, first year since he was hired away from Maryland. So excited to see what they got. [00:17:40] Speaker B: Yeah, it should be a fun year for Alabama. Baseball should be a fun year for a lot of sports, which is very exciting here as we head into the spring. [00:17:48] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:17:48] Speaker B: So we're going to take a quick break. When we come back, oh, boy, you're going to want to be here for this one. We have each got our top six teams. If we were the committee and had to rank the top six teams in college football, who would be headed to the playoffs? You're going to find out from each of us and, oh, boy, there's no way that we're not going to go at least 15 minutes over in the next segment. So be here when we come back here on 90.7, the capstone. It's a by week for Alabama. So we're taking a little bit of a departure from our normal our normal kind of flow of the show. We got into a lot of different alabama athletics in the first segment, but in the second segment, it's getting close. It's getting down to the wire. We've got, what, four ish weeks left in the college football season? I think four, five, maybe. [00:19:08] Speaker C: Sorry, five. [00:19:09] Speaker B: We'll figure it out. [00:19:10] Speaker A: Games. [00:19:10] Speaker B: Yeah, five ish games. And we're starting to get to that time where those playoff rankings are about to come out. I think they're dropping on the 31st. [00:19:20] Speaker C: Which will be Tuesday, Halloween night. [00:19:24] Speaker B: So it could get spooky. And it's definitely about to get spooky in here because there is no telling what these top sixes are going to look like. Each of us have our own top six list. We're pretending that we are the committee. So honestly, you get to judge them by your own metrics. But I will preface this. These are not power rankings. Right. This is not like at least for my list. I'll speak for myself. My top six ranking is not a power ranking. I would have multiple teams in different spots. Right. This is not like a if you ever watch late kick with Josh pay. This is not the JP poll. There's no model involved. [00:20:07] Speaker A: This is not who would be favored on a neutral field. And we're not going to get into arguments on twitter 50 times a week because people don't watch a show and. [00:20:16] Speaker C: The wrong team's favorite. [00:20:17] Speaker B: Look, guys, I simulated every single game for the rest of the year in NCAA 14. We're ready. Anyway. How are we going to do this? I think we want to go from the top to the bottom because I think the teams at the bottom are going to be a lot more I. [00:20:30] Speaker C: Think it goes from somewhat obvious to less obvious as we go down. [00:20:35] Speaker B: Yeah. So who wants to start? [00:20:39] Speaker C: I'll go. [00:20:40] Speaker B: All right, joe, number one, throw in. [00:20:44] Speaker C: My sit down for this one. I have georgia. [00:20:48] Speaker A: Get out of here. [00:20:49] Speaker B: Are you serious? Yeah, no, I can smell the exactly. [00:20:56] Speaker C: But no, I have Georgia. I mean, I think that they've steadily gotten better. The only time that I think they really looked bad was against Auburn on the road. But essentially since that game, they've looked really good. I don't really see them. I think Missouri could give them a game, but I think Georgia at home could beat everybody by a good 15 to 20 points with how they're playing. So obviously just crushed Florida. Florida looked good for, like, a drive. They had the first drive of the game looked pretty good. And then Georgia immediately silenced. [00:21:31] Speaker A: It was seven nothing. And then it was 36 seven georgia. Yeah. [00:21:35] Speaker B: I was like, oh, this is going to be such a good game. Yeah. No. [00:21:38] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:21:38] Speaker B: Graham merch turned off. [00:21:39] Speaker C: Graham mertz went back to his place. But I have Georgia at one. [00:21:42] Speaker A: Are you all just going to go with number one first? [00:21:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:45] Speaker A: Okay. My number one. Also Georgia. But really, get out of here. This could change very quick for me. And obviously you still know Brock bowers do not know when he's going to return. I haven't heard. If any of you all have heard otherwise, let me know. But they don't have Brock Bowers. Obviously, they did not play well on the road at Auburn. If they don't have Brock Bowers in that game, they probably lose. And then that first halfing in South Carolina where they were down 14 three, they did come back and win 20 414 recently. Kentucky, they handled Kentucky at home. They went to Vanderbilt. It's Vanderbilt. You're not really going to have too much struggle there. We just talked about the Florida, how they went down early, and the next thing you know is 36 seven, they cruised 43 20. Win the next three games, they have Missouri at home. They're lucky they get two of these games at home, but they get Missouri at home. Missouri is a one loss team so far. Only loss was LSU. Now, if Missouri had this team last year, they would have probably beat Georgia. Remember, Georgia went into Missouri, very close game. They had to pull it out at the last second. This year, Missouri actually has a decent team, but they got to go to Athens, so we'll see what happens. Georgia will probably still win that game, but then they get Ole Miss, who's finally getting healthy, and then they go on the road to Knoxville. [00:23:00] Speaker B: They've got a tough schedule. [00:23:01] Speaker A: It's a very tough three game stretch, which at the beginning of the season, we weren't seeing this as like I mean, it was like Omens and Tennessee, that's a little tough. Tennessee on the road, but Missouri was like that was the afterthought, right? And now all of a sudden, it's like that was the 230 CBS game with Alabama and LSU taking the doubleheader late night for that one. And then if they get through those three games, they have Georgia Tech, which it is on the road, I'll give it that. [00:23:26] Speaker C: But if they kneel the ball, the. [00:23:28] Speaker A: History, I mean, Georgia Tech, they beat Miami because Miami made those mistakes. They did just come back from ten down against North Carolina to win that game 46 42. So it's a little bit better Georgia Tech team than what they faced in the past, but the history still leans heavily to Georgia. So if they get through these next three SEC games, basically they get a game that most people think they're going to win. And then they have the SEC championship game right now probably between Alabama or LSU. We'll see who wins this week to kind of take the driver's seat. [00:23:58] Speaker C: Also real quick, Adam, you talked about the CBS double header. It's a CBS triple header. Ohio State, Rutgers at noon. [00:24:04] Speaker A: Well, see, okay, follow it's a double header for SEC on CBS. [00:24:09] Speaker B: All right. [00:24:09] Speaker C: It's a double header in games that matter. [00:24:10] Speaker B: We've got a CBS shill sitting. [00:24:13] Speaker A: We're getting arguments about CBS when it should be about these rankings. [00:24:16] Speaker B: Yeah, honestly. Well, we got our first deviation because at number one, I've got Ohio State. Okay, let me talk about why number one, georgia's schedule so far at least. First off, they got so lucky. This schedule could have been horrendous, but they've had a good number of teams that have actually turned out to be pretty good. So I'll give them that. But still, schedules, cupcake. Look, Ohio State has two really good wins. I know we thought that maybe that Notre Dame win was not that good. That Notre Dame win week after week continues to get better. They have gotten so much better. They finally have a Likable head coach there at Notre Dame, excited to see where they go in the future. But they also beat Penn State. Not really a surprise if you know the history of the series, how James Franklin has played against big, really good teams against Ohio State specifically. [00:25:18] Speaker A: Last time Penn State beat Ohio State was 2016. [00:25:24] Speaker B: Not there. But they have two really good wins. The rest of their schedule not great, and they have another opportunity at the end of the year when they play Michigan to get another really good big win. [00:25:34] Speaker A: I hate that that game's an 11:00 A.m.. [00:25:38] Speaker B: The thing that concerns me about Ohio State is the quarterback play, right? [00:25:43] Speaker C: Yeah. McCord. [00:25:44] Speaker B: McCord. I'm not convinced. And maybe that's just because Ohio State fans kind of got spoiled with really good quarterback play in the past couple years. But here's the thing. Ohio State has their guy right now in Marvin Harrison Jr. Right. Like, he is the guy, ohio State's guy, sorry, Georgia's guy is hurt right now. So that's tough. I think on a neutral field right now, I probably lean Ohio State. [00:26:15] Speaker C: I didn't think we were doing that. [00:26:16] Speaker B: We're saying with no Brock Powers, but based off of right now, they have two really quality wins, a chance to get a third Ohio State, number one for me. [00:26:27] Speaker C: Yeah, I guess I didn't agree. But I don't hate that. We talked about this a little bit. I think there's like a couple teams you could put in these top spaces. But I'll go to number two. That's where I have Ohio State. I debated whether it was going to be Michigan or Ohio State, but I hate sign stealing, so I put Ohio State up above them. That's not the actual reason, but kind of like you said, nick justification. Yeah. I just hate Jim Harbaugh. No, I think Ohio State. The resume is better. Obviously. Michigan still has looked really good, but I think Ohio State, like you said, the wins at Notre Dame, Penn State, wisconsin is technically five and know Michigan later in the I think, you know, the resume is better and they're both undefeated. So that's why I kind of give it to Ohio State. But I'll say this, I am really worried about Kyle McCord because he has not looked great, really these past couple. [00:27:31] Speaker A: Yeah. So my number two. Also Ohio State. Many of the reasons that y'all have already said my biggest thing is any other year with quarterback play being this inconsistent at Ohio State, you would have some serious trust issues with this team. But that defense has been years, light years, better than anything they've had in the past, at least five years there. And that's pretty much why they beat Notre Dame on the road. A 1714 win. Years past, you wouldn't see that. Like, Ohio State would have probably just went in and blown them out, but in a tight game. They did make enough plays offensively, but it's the defense that carried them. And then Penn State once again weren't able to get a lot of explosive offense plays because of how good Penn State's defense is. But you still got out of the wind there the rest of the year. Rutgers Michigan State, minnesota. It's not really that daunting of a schedule. Then you have that game against Michigan. So as long as they take care of business, they're going to be in. And I just really like how this defense has played this year. [00:28:34] Speaker B: Yeah. And I will before I get into my number two, I want to give props to Ryan Day. I'm not the biggest Ryan Day fan last season. I think I specifically called their schedule out for being awful. I think I said multiple times that I didn't like Ohio State last year purely because I thought they played a pretty weak schedule. [00:28:58] Speaker C: Kind of all our viewership from Columbus. [00:29:01] Speaker B: Same issue that I have with Georgia this year. But that defense has really they have taken it to heart to really be more physical. And that's why their defense has just been leaps and bounds over what it has been last year. They are not going to get dominated in a game, which I think is what you want from a powerhouse like Ohio State. So props to them. That's why the number one, what's the word I'm looking for? No debate about the top two. I've got Georgia at number two, simply, just like I said, no brock Powers. They've had some sketchy wins this year. You let up 21 to UAB. That's tough. You almost lose to Auburn. Vanderbilt puts up 20 on you. Florida might be bad, might be really bad, but I was expecting a better game there. But they've got a couple of really tough games at the end of the year. Missouri, ole Miss, Tennessee, like we said. Even Georgia Tech, maybe. Fingers crossed, potentially, right? [00:30:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:30:13] Speaker B: But so far not a great schedule. Their only really marquee win is Kentucky. [00:30:22] Speaker A: That's it. [00:30:23] Speaker B: We haven't gotten to the hard part of their schedule yet, and I feel like we don't really know what they look like against really good. Yeah, that's why I've got Georgia at. [00:30:34] Speaker C: Number that yeah, that's a fair. Like, I don't disagree with that, especially with kind of how Ohio State wins have kind of. Looked better and better. I kind of thought Notre Dame would lose that game and then lose like three more, but they haven't. So yeah, Ohio State's resume is pretty good. [00:30:53] Speaker A: Now is where things get interesting. [00:30:55] Speaker C: Yeah. My number three team, I don't think it's crazy to say it, but that's where I have Michigan. I have Michigan at number three. They've just looked really dominant. Of course they should be dominating their schedule, but they've led up ten points once every other game. They've led up less than ten. And the game that they led up ten points to was 52 to ten win against at Minnesota. Their defenses look really good. I think JJ. McCarthy has kind of he balled out and then has kind of slowed it down a little bit. Of course, they haven't really needed him to be all that great and needed them to win games, but still, I think the fact that he hasn't played all that great and Blake Coram is kind of getting back and has 13 touchdowns, I think that kind of makes them scary. But of course, they have a very big scandal hand coming over their head, so I don't know how that's going to affect them. This is their first week in which they have a game since that news, since the kind of stuff has really come out about their assistant coach there. So I'm interested to see how it affects them when they know maybe not Purdue at home, but when they go to Penn State or I mean, to that. I have Michigan on my third just because they've looked really good in their schedule and you can only beat your teams in front of you. [00:32:31] Speaker A: So my number three is Oregon, and this will be very interesting once we actually get to the end of the season and see how the Pac Twelve has looked at them, because there have been some very close games recently. There have been more games that you did not expect teams to lose, which we've talked about on this show, how this is the strongest the Pac Twelve has looked in a while, and that is certainly true offensively with Michael Pennings Jr. Bo Nick, all these quarterbacks reigning Heisman winner, and Caleb Williams. USC should have lost for the third straight game. They snuck out of there with a 50 49. But with Oregon, they have one loss. Their only loss was on the road at Washington, 36 33, missed the field goal. That would have tied it very reminiscent for Alabama fans of the Tennessee game from last year. And after that you had kind of like a big game hangover against Washington State 38 24. But then they go on the road to Salt Lake City. Utah is just coming off of their win against USC and they beat them 35 to six and just a dominating performance on the road. So I didn't really see it. I thought that game was going to be a little closer. If you look at the rest of the games, obviously out of conference wasn't the best. Portland State, they won 81 seven at Texas Tech, 38 30, hawaii 55 ten. Then you had the conference where it was 42 to six against Colorado, 42 to six against Stanford. Then the loss, but then bouncing back after that loss with these two wins when it could have just went downhill for them. And now the rest of the schedule, cal, USC, that game doesn't look as tough as what we thought a couple of weeks ago at Arizona State and then Oregon State rivalry game, end of the year, Oregon State just lost. We still have yet to see exactly how good they're going to be, but I just think with that only one loss, being on the road at Washington that close, and then seeing how they bounce back from it, I've got them up at my number three. [00:34:38] Speaker B: So apparently the whole not a power rankings thing, not true for everybody. [00:34:45] Speaker C: What are we talking about? Okay, you have Oregon ranked above the team that beat them. [00:34:51] Speaker B: Yes, it's a little controversial. [00:34:54] Speaker C: Yeah, that is weird. [00:34:55] Speaker B: It's pretty controversial. Okay, I'll get into mine, right? [00:34:59] Speaker A: If it was a power rating, I. [00:35:01] Speaker B: Would be like, look, I completely agree with you. I love Oregon. Right. I think that Oregon is much, much better than they're getting credit for. Their only loss is by three points to supposedly one of the top five teams in the country. Right. So I would love to put them where I've got them, but I can't rank them above a team that has a head to head win against them, literally last week, two weeks, washington, two weeks, whatever. Like that recent. If it was earlier in the season, if it was week one, week two, week three, maybe, but I can't ignore this right now. So Washington is my number three now. I will be. You know, I don't really foresee them holding this out until the end of the year. Right. Their resume, it's a little sketchy. They've got some tough games at the end of the year. They have one really good win against Oregon, who I think is really strong. I think that win is very undervalued right now. They've had a couple of close calls in the past two weeks. Obviously, that Arizona State game where you're only able to score 15 points, no. [00:36:24] Speaker A: Offensive touchdowns, that's tough. And then you go on the road to Stanford and almost lose again, which would play into a committee who's trying to choose between a team they just watched Oregon play, beating Utah 35 to six, and then watching them almost blow it at Stanford. [00:36:38] Speaker B: Very true. But I will say this. Yes, I do take into account near losses, but at the end of the day, they still are wins. It's still an undefeated team that has a marquee win and they have chances to get a couple more. Look, USC should not be ranked. Bad team, just period. Utah, good team. Oregon State. Good team. You have a chance to get two more really good wins here at the end of the year and you have a chance at the end of the year, you're probably going to get to play Oregon again. Can you back it up? Can you do it again? I don't think they will, but that's why I've got Washington at three. Some shaky foundations there at number three. They're not safe, not by a long shot. The gap between one and two, between two and three is very large. [00:37:32] Speaker C: Yeah, I guess I'll kick it off with kind of who I would put in the final playoff spot. And this is where it gets, I will admit, very tricky for me because you got a couple of teams that have just kind of been hanging around, that are still undefeated, that have been kind of quiet, which I think if I was going to go just strictly resume wins, I'm going to put florida state at mean. Listen, this was a team. And I think some of the country has kind of forgotten that this team beat LSU week one and dominating fast. Yeah, beat them by 21. Obviously Clemson's not had a good season, but Florida State went on the road and beat Clemson. They beat Duke, which their quarterback play was in and out and kind of inconsistent that game. But they were able to beat Duke, just beat Wake Forest 41 to 16. And I don't really see them losing a game until potentially an ACC championship game, which nobody really knows who's going to be there. Louisville seems like they're going to be there, but Virginia Tech could still kind of get in. Georgia Tech's not even out of the mix. So I just think though, that the way Florida State has played. I think Jordan Travis has had a really good season and I think when people have kind of talked a lot about Bo Nicks and Michael Pennix and how good they've played and obviously Caleb Williams kind of came in with the preseason hype. Jordan Travis, 18 touchdowns, two interceptions, 2000 yards. He's at 65% completion percentage. I think he's playing at some of his best football ever. And that's why I have Florida State at my four. And I will say that they're undoubtedly, I think the best team in the ACC by some gap. [00:39:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:39:32] Speaker A: So my number four also Florida State, the biggest thing that takes them back to that fourth spot is you only have two ranked wins. You do have that LSU win from week one. LSU is improved. Play it again, we'll see what happens. You have Duke, that's their other ranked win, 38 20. They had that one in Tallahassee. It was pretty good this past weekend beating Wake Forest 40 116. The rest of the schedule they should win out. I mean that's anything that's undefeated. That's not playing another top five team. [00:40:02] Speaker C: North, Alabama, though. Watch out. [00:40:04] Speaker A: I like North Alabama. Not going to happen. So they go on the road to Pittsburgh this week. Pittsburgh has not had the best season. Then they have Miami. Miami's been up and down. It is a rivalry. Know it is in Tallahassee this year. And then the other game at Florida in Gainesville. Florida has not looked that good, but they play much better at home. They did beat Tennessee 29 to 16 in the Swamp. So I think Florida State is going to win out if you are looking at that ACC championship, and right now it's looking like Louisville and Virginia Tech sitting right there. Four and four overall, but three and one in the conference. So we'll see. [00:40:54] Speaker C: ACC merchants are the hokeys. [00:40:58] Speaker B: Okay. So agreement at four? I've also got Florida State. Look, they have two quality wins. The LSU win I think is going to continue to get stronger as we. [00:41:11] Speaker A: Go on, especially if LSU knocks off Alabama this week. [00:41:15] Speaker B: Yes, that win is going to look much, much better. That defense is rough, but still a really great offense. And then that Duke win also very good. Duke has been steadily improving. That's a quality win. Other than that, it's a weak schedule and they have had some sketchy, sketchy wins. That Boston College game, they should have lost that game. That was tough. Clemson going to double overtime. Clemson has looked bad this year, maybe because of Dabo's refusal to use the transfer portal, but that could be a part. Yeah, might be, but Clemson not good. So those are just some very sketchy wins. I don't love if you're Florida State, it's why I've got them below a Washington. There's a world here where I might have put Oregon in over. You know, I'm trying to be realistic because at the end of the year I don't think there really is going to be a scenario where Washington and Oregon both get in. It would take probably you have to. [00:42:33] Speaker A: Have pretty much every champion with one. [00:42:35] Speaker B: Loss and then it's just yeah, it would be tough. So I'm trying to be realistic and only have one Pac Twelve school in here, but Florida State put two Big Ten schools in. [00:42:49] Speaker C: You put Ohio. Did I Michigan in. [00:42:51] Speaker B: No, I did not. [00:42:53] Speaker C: Oh, I thought you put Michigan. [00:42:54] Speaker A: Only person that's had Michigan so far. [00:42:56] Speaker C: Is thought you put that in. My fault. [00:42:59] Speaker B: But sneaky suspicion. [00:43:03] Speaker A: We will have to wait and see what the actual committee goes with during that first. [00:43:08] Speaker B: We'll get into that. We'll get into that. [00:43:11] Speaker C: I thought I stole your sign and it was wrong. [00:43:14] Speaker B: Yeah, that was tough. We were using dummy signals. Meanwhile, I'm getting recorded over here on my right. I'm covering my results right now. They can't see my plays. [00:43:25] Speaker A: I got to zoom on. [00:43:28] Speaker B: True sidelines right there. So, yeah, I've got portison at four. No disgrace. [00:43:37] Speaker C: I got at five. I'll kind of make this quick because we've talked about them a decent amount. I got Washington at five. The win against Oregon really good, albeit they haven't really looked good since their defense is kind of shaky. Obviously, 33 points to Stanford, 32 to Cal, not the best numbers, but they're still eight. No, they're winning. They have a big game against USC on the road at night next week. So we'll see. I mean, USC, listen, I think Washington is going to win. Michael Pennix might break like a passing record in that game with how that defense is at USC, but they're going. [00:44:14] Speaker B: To let up 65 points. [00:44:16] Speaker C: But yeah, like, Caleb Williams might also lead the Trojans and score like 45 points as well. So that would probably be a really fun game to watch. But for right now, I have Washington as my five, just kind of looking out. [00:44:33] Speaker A: Yeah. I also have Washington at think, you know, really it's those last two weeks for me, like why they fell to this spot with no offensive touchdowns against Arizona State and then Stanford, they had to come back against Colorado, but it was like, okay, it's Colorado. Then they almost beat Washington. Now Washington has a somewhat difficult three game stretch at USC, is the first one this week, 630. Now. USC. They lost notre Dame, 48 20. Caleb Williams did not play well. They lost to Utah 34 32. Then they go to Cal, a game they should have lost. They somehow got out of there with a 50 to 49 win. The most Pac Twelve thing that could ever happen is for Washington to lose in the Coliseum this week. And it could happen. We'll see after that. They do have Utah at home and then they have a game at Oregon State. That's kind of my if I was to pick a game that they would lose, that would be the know on the road in Corvallis. That's a very tough place to play. And I don't think they get out of these three games undefeated and they could still be in a Pac Twelve championship game and then the Pac Twelve is going to work itself out. We don't have any question about that. You're going to have unlike some other conferences like say, the Big Ten or the SEC where it is divisions where it's like you just get the winner of each division. The Pac Twelve does have who's ever one or two, just like the SEC does the Big Twelve. So you're not going to have a situation where you're going to have a one loss team not playing in that championship game, just sitting at home and then sneaking into the playoffs. So we'll see. But I have Washington at five. [00:46:18] Speaker B: Yeah, so I'll keep it short, oregon at five. I would love to put Oregon higher. I think Oregon, if we were ranking them where I think they're going to be at the end of the season, oregon's much higher. I think they're in but can't have them in right now. They have a loss, albeit to the team that I put number three, but it is a head to head. I also they're not going to have a lot of chances to get a real massive win as we kind of continue going, except for they will probably play washington in the pac twelve championship game. That'll probably decide their fate. USC, I don't really consider that to be a marquee win. Oregon state, maybe that win could look a little bit better, but really it's going to come down to that pac twelve championship game whether they are going to get in or not. For me, we'll go to the last number six. [00:47:24] Speaker C: Yeah, number six. This is where I've gone a little bit off the rails. I think at least I actually have texas at my number six and it was between them and Oregon as far as who I'd rank higher. But I think that if I was the committee simply looking at these teams, texas has the win at alabama which for alabama fans keeps getting better or in a good way. Alabama keeps winning so that win looks better. They crushed kansas, which now actually doesn't look terrible. And then they went into this game without their starting quarterback, hung 35 on BYU in what could have very well been a trap game. And I just think that oregon, obviously, they've had a couple of good wins and they've looked really good. But if you look at their schedule as a whole, it's kind of really the only team that could have beat them, beat them, I think. I mean, utah was without their starting quarterback and oregon looked really good against them, but they also kind of kept it close with texas tech. Earlier in the year they led up 24 to wazoo washington state. Colorado isn't clearly all that's great. Dion is slowly turning that ship, but it's real slow. And I just think texas mainly because of the alabama win and I think honestly now the kansas win, I think the committee would probably put them higher. So that's why I have them above oregon for right now. Now, obviously oregon does have an opportunity in a couple weeks against USC where if they dominate that game easily that's going to be switched or texas could lose to kansas state on saturday and that could easily be a switch. But I just have texas just built off of really the win at alabama and how they looked without quinn ewers. I have them just a hair above oregon. [00:49:31] Speaker A: Okay, so maybe you are going to come for me again and say that it's a power rating, but right now I think alabama is better than texas. I have alabama at my number six. You can talk about that week to win. Obviously, alabama has improved. Texas without quinn ewers. I know they just beat BYU without him, but he's going to be out two to four weeks. We'll see how it goes. They have let's see if I have there, I might have just moved off Kansas State. Yeah. So Kansas State this week, who just got ranked again. So maybe they make it through it without Quinnie Rus. Quinn Rus comes back and then they win the Big Twelve and then they're probably going to get into the playoff. We'll see. But right now I have Alabama simply because if you're looking at week two, alabama with Jalen Milro through the two interceptions, still through for I can't remember his exact stat line, but it was like 200 here, 255 yards, two touchdowns. Alabama had the lead in the fourth. I think the offense kind of let the defense down. Defense got tired, started giving up points. Since then Alabama's defense has looked amazing. Offense has gotten better pretty much every, you know, right now I just think Alabama's better team and we're going to really find out this week with LSU. Another this is the last real, I won't say real test, but for home games you had the stretch where you have Tennessee last week. You have on the road at Texas A M. Now you have LSU, you still have Kentucky, which you can't sleep on. You have Chattanooga and then you have Auburn in Jordan Hare. That one's going to be really tough just because rivalry game. But really you get to Atlanta, you beat Georgia, especially with how the season's worked out. I think they're getting in with Texas's win against BYU without Quinn Ewers, it does look a little better. But this BYU team lost to Kansas, lost to TCU by 33. They also went to Arkansas, won 38 31. So BYU is five and three. But even though without Quinn Uris, they still won 35, texas won 35 to six. I just can't look at that game and be like, yeah, I'm going to still have Texas above Alabama at this point, especially if you don't have Quinn Ubers with how he played in that game. [00:52:06] Speaker B: All right, so I have Texas at six. I have a hard time at the end of the day. Do I think Alabama would get in over Texas. Yeah, probably at the end of the year, especially with Oklahoma losing to Kansas. It's going to make the Big Twelve look worse as a result. So it's going to be interesting here at the end of the year. But Texas, they obviously have a head to head win over Alabama, where know, as much as it pains me to say it dominated Alabama in that game, alabama never really felt like had a chance to win or never really felt like they were going to win. Now, granted, different team, right? But I can't ignore it when it's this close. It's a head to head win despite it being in week two. They also have a dominant win over kansas who the week before they beat. You know, that's a little tough if you're just kind of comparing wins against the same team. Their only loss is to Oklahoma by four points and Oklahoma scored on a last second drive in their biggest rivalry game of the year. So I'm not too pressed about that one. Now, I will say there is a really good chance that Texas gets upset this coming week against Kansas State. That is a trap game, if there has ever been a trap game. Kansas State is kansas State is good. [00:53:48] Speaker A: It's an 11:00, a.m kickoff. You're going to have the NFL Street Fox Graphics on the screen. They do get it at home, so that is good. But without Quinn Ewers, this game, this screams upset right now. [00:54:06] Speaker B: Yeah, it's going to be tough. So that's a must watch. And then I know nobody's talking about it right now, but I'm going to put a pin in it right now. Texas Tech at the end of the year on ABC 630 kick. Nothing, and I mean nothing, would make the Raiders in lovec happier than to spoil Texas's chance to get into the playoff by beating them at the very end of the year. [00:54:36] Speaker A: No, we thinking Graham Harold Esque. [00:54:41] Speaker B: So I'm just saying put a pin in it potentially. If it's not this week at Kansas State, I'm warning, be careful. [00:54:50] Speaker A: Here's another one. Say they get past Kansas State at TCU. TCU hasn't looked the best, but then at Iowa State game the week before that, Texas State, it's on the road. This might be the last week that you're without Quinn Ewers. And I just think back to that Oklahoma State at Iowa State that year. I think it was 2011, which basically allowed Alabama to sneak back into the national championship game. I like your pick with that Texas Tech one. That would be great. Especially if Texas Tech pulled the upset in Austin. That would be amazing. [00:55:25] Speaker C: That could be tricky because you would have some film, like real game film on whoever would start that game. If it's not yours, you would know. Malik Murphy started and obviously it looked really good, but he started. [00:55:40] Speaker A: Also, we are just talking about game film. We are not talking about sign stealing from the stand. [00:55:45] Speaker C: They will not know. [00:55:48] Speaker B: You know, that everybody on the show watches late kick with pointing out that Iowa State game at the end of the year. [00:55:55] Speaker C: That's true. Yeah. [00:55:56] Speaker B: Also, we got to address elephant in the room. Two people in here. No, Michigan in the top. [00:56:02] Speaker C: Michigan. [00:56:02] Speaker B: Okay. [00:56:03] Speaker C: I thought we were doing what the committee was doing. [00:56:05] Speaker B: Here's the thing. [00:56:06] Speaker A: No, I think we did do it. [00:56:07] Speaker B: Okay, look, there's a strong possibility greater than zero. I'll say greater than zero. There is a possibility that this is exactly what the committee is going to do. Maybe, but there's already we haven't discussed this at all. Right. I left them out purely for the sign stealing thing. This is rough, it's bad. And maybe after the first couple of things that started coming out, like, oh, they had a staffer that went to some games, everyone does it, but everybody does it right? So that makes it okay. And I'm like, okay, so maybe it's not that bad. I was like, whatever. But more and more details come out every single day and it is rough. And then you start connecting the pieces. These last three years, you've seen a complete turnaround for Harbaugh at Michigan when his first couple years were sketchy. [00:57:13] Speaker A: You just have to look at those games against, you know, those recent ones. [00:57:18] Speaker B: And then it comes out that TCU knew that they were stealing signs and so they were using dummy signs. And then Michigan gets destroyed by an opponent that they probably shouldn't lose. [00:57:31] Speaker A: Now here's what I will say about it just real quick. Just stealing signs, right? The way that Michigan has done it, actually having a staff member go to opposing games, sitting in the stands, videotaping the other sideline, that is what is against the NCA in the game. If you look over, like if you're on a sideline in a game and you just look over, hey, every time he does that, they're throwing this pass, they're running this play every time, that's fine. Looking at how a running back lines up and knowing if it's going to be a runner pass, that's fine. The problem is going to other games. [00:58:06] Speaker B: And videotaping the A okay, shout out college football nerds. If you have not seen their video about this whole sign ceiling incident, you need to watch it's. Fantastic. There was a video that was circulating around Twitter or X, whatever we're calling it now. No, it's Twitter. It's twitter it's both. No. So there's this video circulating of the Michigan sideline from that Ohio State game where on the very first play of the know, obviously Ohio State doesn't staff the ball. They look to the sideline and all the Michigan coaches, including the staffer, are just staring over there at Ohio State looking for the signals. And almost immediately as soon as they come in, you see them start signaling to their own defense, look, I have no problem with trying to figure out the signs in the game. That's something the natural it's just going to happen, right? But on the first play, sorry, first drive of the game, you don't know what the signals mean. [00:59:11] Speaker A: If you can pick it up from your game film, like one, most of your game film is not pointed directly to silent. [00:59:17] Speaker B: Well the game film is from and. [00:59:19] Speaker C: They'Re not going to have over. That's why everyone holds up these huge black tarps. [00:59:24] Speaker A: The big thing, like with game film, it's all about seeing what percentages they're running on, like first down in this formation and stuff like that. You're not like, anyway, I won't get it too far into it. [00:59:35] Speaker C: I'll just say though, the way that I would look at it is if any of you guys watch baseball, like with the Houston Astros, things. [00:59:45] Speaker A: Actually having. [00:59:45] Speaker C: The in baseball, you can steal signs. Like if you have a guy on second base, he can look at whatever the catcher throws in his hand number wise and say, oh, he's throwing a fastball. That's natural to pick up. But videotaping it. The Astros kind of almost did the same thing. Photograph camera, centered it on the catcher, saw what he did and then banged a trash can. [01:00:05] Speaker A: Banged the trash can. You also had I think they were talking about the little wires. [01:00:09] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:00:10] Speaker A: But anyway, I've heard what the Big Ten might do. Okay. One, you don't know what's going to happen with the staff. There's definitely going to be some changes. I don't know if it's going to be like the whole staff. Don't know if it's just going to be that one guy. Don't know if it's going to be just Harbaugh and the one guy that was still but does the Big Ten risk having Michigan win the Big Ten championship and then the College of all playoff committee or the NCAA saying you can't go to a playoff? Because what I've heard is that the Big Ten might come out and say michigan is not allowed to play in a Big Ten championship game, which would then allow Ohio State basically go to the Big Ten championship, win that game, go to a playoff because they don't want to lose that playoff spot. If the NCAA comes out, that's going. [01:00:56] Speaker C: To be the key thing is whether the Big Ten wants to potentially jeopardize getting a team out of the playoff conversation right now, especially when not all of the details are necessarily out there. And that's kind of why when we did this, I still had Michigan ranked in that top six because I figured for the committee's perspective, they are strictly on the field watching the games, what do they see from each team? And that's why I had them still in there because I don't think the committee would necessarily rank a team based off of off the field allegations. Now if it comes out that this thing goes deep and Michigan has to vacate wins and blow up the program and they really did something wrong, then I had no doubt that the committee would know. They would remove them and Michigan State or Michigan would obviously not be playing for a national championship. But I just don't know what it's tricky for the Big Ten because right now you pretty much have at least one guaranteed playoff team. And are you going to try to jeopardize that because say that let's just say that Michigan isn't allowed to go into the Big Ten championship game. Ohio State plays Michigan and loses to Michigan, and then Michigan doesn't go to the Big Ten championship. Ohio State has. A one loss to Michigan, but win the Big Ten, does that team still get in? And I think that's kind of a real sticky situation for the Big Ten as far as that's why I think they're not going to come out with anything and they're going to wait as long as they can. [01:02:37] Speaker B: So two things, we're kind of running out of time here. One, I think it's much more likely that the Big Ten does something than the playoff committee just because, look, if you're the Big Ten, a lot of Big Ten member schools were really upset when this happened. One person said it was happening and immediately you've got a bunch of Big Ten schools saying, hey, we got evidence. [01:03:02] Speaker A: Look at this. Here's one thing I would like to bring up. One, apparently Michigan has rescinded their contract offer that they were making to Harbaugh. But also I just looked it up. Do you know who is on the College Football Playoff committee? Do you have it? [01:03:18] Speaker B: I know that was about to be my second thing. [01:03:22] Speaker A: Ward Manuel, athletics director from the University of Michigan on the committee. [01:03:26] Speaker C: And I think don't they also have another Big Ten guy on there, like an Iowa ad? [01:03:31] Speaker B: I'm not going to lie. If you're the Michigan athletic director, it might be time to recuse yourself from the playoff committee. That's a little like imagine him being in the meeting. [01:03:43] Speaker C: Well, I think they're number one because. [01:03:45] Speaker B: My point was going to be, you know who makes up the College Football Playoff committee? Athletic directors from across the country. [01:03:53] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:03:53] Speaker B: So if you're another school's athletic director I am speaking this is not I don't know anything. This is complete speculation. If you're one of these other teams athletic directors, right, of a big major college football powerhouse, and you look at what Michigan's been doing, especially with like, it's not like they were doing it to one team. It's not like they were only doing it to Big Ten teams. They went to that SEC championship game. They went to Georgia games, they went to Alabama games. [01:04:23] Speaker C: They went to like a Tennessee Florida game one year. [01:04:28] Speaker B: Exactly. Man, it could get real interesting on Halloween. Just imagine Twitter. If Michigan is nowhere to be found on that list, it could get real interesting. First off, NCAA not going to do anything for at least a year. So we're really only worried about Big Ten and, well, the FBI playoff committee and the FBI. But if you're the playoff committee, if you're the Big Ten, do you really want a potential national champion, michigan being stripped of a national championship after the fact when you knew and you had apparently hard evidence of what they were doing the whole time? [01:05:18] Speaker C: I will say one of the last, like the last big time I can remember a championship being taken away was the Louisville basketball team. And I don't think that matters to people like Vacating that I don't think it matters. Oh definitely it's still going to count. It's still going to be whatever people are still going to if Michigan wins the national championship people are still going to say that they're really good. But I did want to ask you guys real quick this might be hard on the spot but we did six neither of you had Michigan. Where would Michigan be? Would they just not be ranked for you guys? [01:05:54] Speaker B: They're not ranked for me. Okay Adam I don't know that I would go so far to say like no bowl game at. [01:06:04] Speaker C: It depends. [01:06:05] Speaker B: I don't know you might want to do mean I think they're definitely going to play in a bowl game and even if they were suspended right I could totally see them pulling what we talked about that James Madison might do where they get a team, they make their own bowl game and they might just claim a national championship with that one. [01:06:25] Speaker A: The only thing you have to have it before the last day of the regular season and then you can play that 13th game. It'll be real interesting for me with the Michigan situation depending on what happens if they actually come out and just say we're not going to put you I didn't do like a whole top 25 I'd probably still have them ranked somewhere but I'm not going to have them anywhere close to a playoff spot. [01:06:53] Speaker C: Okay. [01:06:57] Speaker A: It'S tough it's fine because especially with your own athletic director on the committee, he might be the one that's still trying know keep them around hanging around and then oh, they haven't said that know they're band yet. [01:07:11] Speaker C: Michigan could very well just wait this like there could be a very real chance where they can because I believe that they already delayed something like a request or something and then they could just wait it out until January. [01:07:26] Speaker A: You were ringing up something you were talking about the Louisville championship. Like obviously everybody that watched it knew it have you know the Reggie Bush heisman everybody knows Reggie Bush was the best player know give him his back. But anyway well that was brought up we brought up the sign stealing from the Houston Astros situation and they still have those world series championships. [01:07:48] Speaker C: Well they're not vacated at like the. [01:07:51] Speaker A: Houston Astros like organization fan base. They don't care about it but everybody else does. It's always going to be like the rest of the major league baseball at least fandom kind of just doesn't respect those championships does Michigan do they go we don't care what anybody else thinks. We're going to try our best to just get them in there. [01:08:13] Speaker B: I would imagine that there is almost a 0% chance that Michigan self institutes some sort of postseason ban. Maybe that's what they should do, right? Save face. Definitely no more holier than thou from Michigan fans. [01:08:28] Speaker A: I do think you made a good point like maybe that athletic director should just be like, I'm not going to be on. [01:08:35] Speaker B: He should recuse himself. I'll say it. He should recuse himself. It's going to be very tough. I can only imagine what that room is going to be like. And I'm sure that this is the debate that they're having. Do we leave Michigan off because innocent until proven guilty? Right? But what evidence have they seen? Right? Because none of the evidence has been made available to us. [01:08:57] Speaker A: Really. [01:08:57] Speaker B: We're all going off reports. We haven't seen these supposed videos from the surveillance at the stadiums of the thing. [01:09:08] Speaker A: But you also know with situations like this, you might have certain Big Ten members or certain media members would have already heard whispers about it. But once this is made public so it's already been made public to the average fan like, hey, this is what's going on. They're under investigation for this. It isn't like a, hey, we just got one know, let everybody know about. Like, this investigation has probably already been going on for a long time and they have a lot of evidence before they even brought it up to the public. [01:09:41] Speaker C: When the FBI is walking around a. [01:09:43] Speaker B: School'S campus, something for an unrelated incident. [01:09:46] Speaker C: Something'S going on, I will say, too, what a year for the Big Ten PR team. You had to think going into the football season, you had the stuff at Northwestern with Pat Fitzgerald getting fired. You had Michigan State's coach get fired for inappropriate stuff, and now you have Michigan stealing signs. [01:10:03] Speaker A: It's giving last year's Alabama athletics. [01:10:07] Speaker C: I was just about to say that I'm like Greg Byrne. He might be one of the only people that sympathizes with the Big Ten PR guy because he knows what it's like when stuff's just fallen out and there's nothing you could do about it. It's not like the Big Tens at fought for these teams doing this, but man, what a time. It's just brutal. [01:10:27] Speaker B: Yeah. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Michigan PR department. The guy who runs Twitter, that's bad. [01:10:35] Speaker C: I'm praying for. Unless it's that staffer, in which case, who knows? [01:10:40] Speaker B: Who knows how deep this goes. Maybe they had all their Twitter followers. [01:10:46] Speaker C: But I will say it's weird to think that. Were they stealing UNLV signs? [01:10:51] Speaker B: No, that's tough if you're stealing Rutgers signs. Like, I know Rutger's money line is. [01:10:57] Speaker C: This staff guy going to UNLV and like, ECU football. [01:11:02] Speaker A: Like, obviously I don't know for sure, but I would assume obviously you're going. [01:11:07] Speaker C: To have those games on touch. [01:11:08] Speaker A: Obviously you're going to have your big opponents. But it was really last year, it was like right after that first CFP poll came out, and then all of a sudden it was like, okay, we're going to buy some Tennessee tickets. We're going to buy some Alabama tickets because they're hanging around there. And then some of those tickets went unused. After you see the Tennessee lose to georgia and stuff. Like know, I would expect those lower level they're not flying out to las vegas to watch the running rebels, I'd really hope. [01:11:36] Speaker B: Certainly not now. Anyway, man, what friendly advice if you're scouting for other teams, do not buy the tickets in your own name. [01:11:46] Speaker C: Don't wear michigan stuff to the game. [01:11:48] Speaker B: Genius. Truly. And maybe don't create a venmo record and then put a peach when you're paying for the georgia game. Anyway, man, we've got a lot to talk about next week. That first CFP poll. Oh boy. [01:12:04] Speaker C: Yes. [01:12:04] Speaker B: We're going to have ranking sorry not poll. [01:12:06] Speaker A: We're obviously going to have the alabama LSU game. We also have soccer. They're about to start the SEC tournament for that. Alabama got in as the fifth seed. They will have a rematch against mississippi state who they lost to nil just their last home game. And then basketball. That starts like the day after our next show. [01:12:26] Speaker B: Yeah. So must listen show next week. Same time. [01:12:32] Speaker C: Probably won't go as long. [01:12:34] Speaker B: Yeah, almost no chance that we do. [01:12:37] Speaker A: Need a longer show. [01:12:38] Speaker B: Oh true. You only do so much. Anyway, we'll be back same time here next week. The low tide here on 90.7. Thank you for listening.
